Mark Perana (Puke) is one of NZ’s longest serving and well respected surf coaches (however he’d be the last person to tell you this). He takes the time to customise the sessions to each individuals requirements and has been coaching and developing the sport of surfing in New Zealand for over 3 decades. Mark is a previous NZ team coach, past NZ title holder and a level 2 supervisor Coach with the International Surfing Association (ISA) and Surfing New Zealand (SNZ). He is also a Level 2 surfing judge with ISA and SNZ, he can often be found running the judging team on the South Island surfing circuit.
Tauranga Bay is an idyllic surf beach setting, it’s got a wonderful long sandy beach and great carparks on lovely soft grass!
It’s the home of the famous ‘Bay House Cafe’,which not only offers a huge selection of dishes but provides you with excellent views of the Tasman Sea and surf.
To the north of the bay is a walking track leading to the Tauranga Bay seal colony, which is a very popular tourist attraction.
There’s a brilliant walk around the cliffs, and beyond the lighthouse, the track will lead you to numerous local accommodations, the park and the local pub, ‘the Star’.
